Viewing Greenland icebergs on a Seven Oceans Expedition trip

GREENLAND POLAR DIVING EXPEDITION

An Ultra-Small Expedition Limited to 12 Divers

9 Days / 8 Nights | June 16-24, 2026

Aboard the Polar Icebreaker M/S Tulu

Nuuk to Ilulissat, Greenland

The Inaugural Expedition

Be Among the First

Along Greenland’s western coast, organized recreational polar diving has existed only as a concept—spoken about, imagined, but never realized. Until now.

There are no documented dive sites, shipwrecks remain unexplored, and there is no established framework for non-commercial diving operations that exist here. Seven Oceans Expeditions is changing that.

The Journey

This one-way polar diving expedition aboard the 12 passenger M/S Tulu traces Greenland’s dramatic west coast, beginning in Nuuk and concluding in Ilulissat. Operating in a region defined by remoteness and discovery, explorers will navigate deep fjords, iceberg-filled bays, and pristine Arctic waters rich with polar marine life, including whales, seals, and an abundance of other marine wildlife.

Together, the expedition team will explore, identify, document, and geolocate dive sites in this region—many if not all will be dived for the first time—contributing to a new chapter in arctic polar diving.

Highlights

  • Only 12 divers will accompany the expedition team and crew
  • We will sail on the M/S Tulu, a former Danish Navy Polar Icebreaker, converted to a polar expedition ship
  • 6–7 days of polar diving
  • 11 total dives (weather and conditions permitting)
  • Expert-led, safety-driven operations throughout

Your Expedition Leadership Team

Reknowned scuba diver, Tom Steiner

Tom Steiner is a world-renowned technical diving expert with over 35 years as a professional diver, more than 15,500 dives, and 2,500+ hours on rebreathers. He’s trained divers and instructors globally, developed industry-leading courses, and served as an instructor trainer and examiner across multiple major agencies. Tom has also supported high-profile dive safety operations and trained astronauts at the European Space Agency. As our first Explorer-in-Residence, he brings unmatched depth of experience.

Tom Popper onboard the Tulu

Tom Popper is an accomplished diver and certified cave diver who has explored underwater environments in more than 27 countries across six continents. He also brings decades of experience building pioneering travel brands in complex and highly regulated markets, including founding insightCuba, which made legal U.S. travel to Cuba possible for the first time since 1959. He is the founder of Seven Oceans Expeditions, focused on expanding access to remote polar and cold-water diving environments.

Kaare Hansen in Greenland

Kaare Hansen has lived in Greenland for more than 17 years and is a lifelong cold-water and polar diver. A technical and commercial diver, dive instructor, and trained marine biologist, Kaare brings firsthand knowledge of Greenland’s coastal waters and marine ecosystems. He worked on conservation initiatives with the World Wildlife Fund and the Greenland government, contributing to research and environmental protection in Arctic waters. Kaare’s background and connection to Greenland bring unparalleled insight to the Seven Oceans Expeditions team.
